To improve power system reliability, the protective devices play an important role. One of important protective devices is the remote control switch. The switches can do power system network sectionalizing, when a fault is occurred in the power system. Moreover, it can be controlled via supervisory control and data acquisition system. However, finding the optimal installation location is needed to be figured out. Hence, the switch allocation algorithm is developed and presented. To evaluate the optimal location, the total customer interruption time index and energy not supplied index are selected. Both reliability indices are selected because they cover the system reliability and the loss of opportunity cost. Combining both reliability indices as one parameter, the arithmetic weight method is utilized. The implementation and the algorithm testing are done in DIgSILENT PowerFactory program. Applying the proposed algorithm, the historical data from the utility is used for case study.en_US
