Abstract: This independent study aimed to examine the development of 5S System with an intention to enhance workplace effeciency for the P.Y. Metal Limited Partnership. Three methodological approaches implemented in this study were (1) prepration of 7 steps to 5S, (2) implementation of 5S: Seiri/Sort; Seiton/ Set in Oder; Seiso/Shine; Seiketsu/Standardize; and Shisuke/Sustain, and (3) assessment of 5S by the administrators. Findings from this study indicated that for the P.Y. Metal Limited Partnership, the 5S implementation generated positive impact in freeing up 264 square meters of workplace space, where could be used for seperating 44 tons of metal items. Values that the organization gained from selling these separated metals were 528,00 Baht. 19 tons of them were reusable as free repairable or replacing parts for broken equipmens. The organization used these parts to repair (1) 28 out of 46 broken grinding wheel motors; (2) 3 out of 6 broken fiber cutters; (3) 5 out of 8 broken welding machines; and (4) 3 out of 6 broken fiber cutters. Results of the overall assessment of the P.Y. Metal Limited Partnership’s 5S: Seiri/Sort; Seiton/ Set in Oder; Seiso/Shine; Seiketsu/Standardize; and Shisuke/Sustain presented that the criteria for assessment was scoring rubics. Everytime when the 5S was impleted on the Big Cleaning Day at the P.Y. Metal Limited Partnership, employees of every unit in all sections were required to complete the rating scale survey to assess the 5S achievement. In the past year, the mean scores of overall 5S assessment of the studied organization as rated by its staff was 4.25, representing the gool level of 5S manamement. In an overview, the 5S implementation of this organization could achieve the determined objectives and goals. All employees had positive attitude and disciplines in implementing the 5S routinely. For the studied organization, the establishment of 5S System was regarded as the steppingstone to improve working performance and internal environment to be more systematically organized, resulting to the increase of workplace efficiency and productivity in each section.
