Abstract: | "Dress up Dolls" is an art project the background of which is the preference and remembrance towards doll dressing which is happiness during the days of youth that can hardly happen to adults. The recall of this happiness has inspired the creation of art works in this project, which are based on the concept of the doll that can have different dresses. The impression that bas been stored in the memory has been reflected through beauty and delicacy of the woven copper threads that are made into clothes and utensils for dolls in the dressing up for the dolls, which emphasize the importance of the dolls like valuable collectibles. Furthermore, audiences are also welcome to change dolls' dresses, which will make audiences feel enjoyment and use their imaginations while dressing up the dolls. The objectives of this project are (1) to refresh the happiness of the days of childhood with audiences, and (2) to emphasize on the importance of paper doll toys by changing materials from paper to mixed materials (multimedia). The works include dolls in the shapes of young men, women and children, the total number of which is 7.Made from metal materials, clothes of dolls that are crocheted from copper threads. The shelves for clothes made of transparent acrylic. All the works are presented in installation art style. All the seven sets of the works are displayed in the semicircle alignment in zigzag line so that audiences can approach to change clothes of the dolls from from any direction. The works in this set have met the concept and objectives that have been predetermined. The publicity in the form of an art exhibition enables me, the researcher, to see interactions that audiences have to the dolls while changing the dolls' clothes, which has led to many interesting questions. The audiences are aware of the value of the reiteration of old things from the past through art works that are greatly special. In addition, it has also been discovered that not only does the dimension of shadows support the works by adding aestheticism but it also adds meanings to the works. The dimension of shadows serves to reflect memories from the past to meet the works that are at present. This idea can be used for conducting new art projects in the future. |
