Abstract: This paper studies the vulnerability to poverty of households in Thailand to enhance poverty and prevent ex-ante poverty in future households. The study adopts secondary data sets from the household socioeconomic survey, conducted by the National Statistical Oflice Thailand (NSO) for 2013, 2015, and 2017, in which the mentioned data were collected every two years. The three-step feasible generalized least squares (3FGLS) procedure was employed to estimate poverty vulnerability in Thailand. The vulnerability to poverty of housebolds is measured based on household consumption, and then the Panel regression is used to investigate the macroeconomic impacts on the vulnerability to poverty in Thailand. Thus, the analysis of this study was divided into two parts, namely the measurement of vulnerability to poverty and macroeconomic determinants on vulnerability to poverty. The result shows that the variables of household size, the level of education, the status (married, single, divorced and occupations of household head are positive and signilicant to the level of household consumption in all three years. Furthermore, the vulnerability to poverty did not vary significantly for overall of Thailand any, but it is slightly lower in Bangkok than in other regions on average. Lastly, the panel regression analysis revealed that the factor that can keep a household out of vulnerability is Gross Reginal Product (GRP).
