Abstract: The purpose of this research was to examine the effect of Thai folk dance programs on the depression, hope, and meaning in life in female inpatients with major depressive disorder and to compare the effect between usual care and Thai folk dance with usual care. In terms of utilized research methodology, this study has been two groups pre-test-post-test quasi-experimental designed to compare the average score of depression, hope, and meaning in life. A sample of 24 female inpatients with major depressive disorder from purposive sampling who has voluntarily participate in Thai folk dance with usual care (experimental group) or usual care (control group). Data were analyzed by paired t-test and independent t-test. The result shows that the post-test, Thai folk dance programs with usual care (experimental group) have a normal level of depression, the average score of hope and meaning in life show a significant increase (p < .05). In comparison between groups show an average score of depression and hope with no significant difference but a significant difference in the average score of meaning in life (p < .05).
