Abstract

Nowadays, the construction management has incorporated methods and technique for construction which had been developed for the benefit of projects and of the company. With the expansion in the Thai economy, construction work had come to play an important role in the development of the country as construction management had assisted with management of resources, management of time expended by the project as well as proving options for selection of method of construction which will prove most beneficial. The author had therefore, been interested in the comparative study of costs for casting concrete beams incurred through the purchase of raw materials to make molds for casting beams as contrasted to the renting pre-made molds for concrete beams to cast steel re-enforced concrete beams of the project (Peamboon Co., Ltd.) to be used in the construction of a hotel to determine whether it would be more suitable to invest in the purchase of raw materials for making molds which would, in turn, indicate if it will be worth investing in the project. In the course of this comparative study of costs involved in beam casting work between the making of the molds and rental of molds for a hotel construction project of Peamboon Co., Ltd., the finding is that costs from the rental of molds were less than purchasing of raw materials to make beam molds. This study has consequentially, presented an option towards decision-making of the project in the future. The aforementioned information shall further assist with decision-making and guidethe approach of Peamboon Co., Ltd.’s management.
