Abstract: | This study entitled “People Participation in Solid Waste Management in Loung Nua Municipality, Doi Saket District, Chiang Mai Province” had the purpose of 1. Examining the people’s attitudes and behavior toward solid waste management. 2. Investigating the problems to understand the management of the solid waste and 3. Finding out the people’s participation and the procedure to encourage and train them about solid waste management of the Municipality. The research population consisted of 361 male and female residents including youth leaders in Loung Nua Municipality, Doi Saket District, Chiang Mai Province who filled out the distributed questionnaire. The findings were that most of the people put their solid waste in the black garbage bags and separated it according to the classification. They also tried to reduce and recycle and reuse it after the classification. The people were informed about the solid waste management and handling method as well as about the types of products that damaged the environment mainly by television. Their level of understanding about solid waste management was at a high level 15.842 points, and their participation in solid waste management was at a moderate level while the problems with the management was also at a moderate level. Accordingly, significance was given to the people’s understanding and some negligence of the problems. The relevant government agencies should look for ways to make the optimum use of benefits from the classification or separation of the waste. |
