ปัญหาความขัดแย้งในการจัดภูมิทัศน์บริเวณทางขึ้นวัดพระธาตุดอยสุเทพวรวิหาร ตำบลสุเทพ อำเภอเมืองเชียงใหม่

Abstract

The purposes of this independent study were to; 1) study problems, causes, and effects of the conflict in landscape management, and 2) find out the solutions to problems of the conflict in landscape management at Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, Suthep District, Muang Chiang Mai District. The sample group was 61 people of Doi Suthep-Pui National Park including officers, vendors, and others who were involved. Questionnaires with reliability of 0.939 were used as tool to collect data. Data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, and were presented in the tables with commentary. The study was found that most of the respondents were male who were older than 40 years old. Their education was upper secondary level or vocational certificate. They earned less than 10,000 baht per month from sales of food and beverages in Wat Phra That Doi Suthep area. They have owned this business for over 10 years and they have opened their shop every day. Moreover, the reasons that they had business here because they inherited it from their parents and they lived near Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, so the transportation was convenient for them. In terms of the problems, there were the conflict between foresters and business owners, this was because of a difference of opinion. The intensity of the conflict was at moderate level. There was also the problem between vendors and the government officers in the area of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. However, respondents agreed that there should be a mediator to resolve the issue. They also agreed that the problem might occur in the future, it could be solved with everybody's involvement and sincerity. Meanwhile, the vendors asked the foresters to listen and understand their opinions. The leader who was the negotiator should be the provincial governor. Furthermore, there were some suggestions on how to solve the problem. Some agreed that the most appropriate solution was negotiation. Every part as sub district headman, village headman, and the vendors should cooperate to prevent others to take advantages from the village. In terms of suggestions or guidelines for dealing with trade area in front of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, the areas should be clear. The prices of each product should be reasonable in order to avoid taking advantage of tourists. The stores or shops should be organized in order to not to obscure the beauty of Doi Suthep. In addition, Minor issues with the highest mean score was problem solving with compromise. Minor issue that had an average minimum was the negotiation and the satisfaction of trading was at moderate level.
