Abstract: | © 2018 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l. In this paper, 2-2 connectivity pattern lead-free piezoelectric ceramic Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3/Portland cement composites with ≈ 30–70 vol% of Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3ceramic has been successfully fabricated. Dielectric and piezoelectric properties of the composites were investigated. The results showed that Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3ceramic content has an effect on dielectric property of the composite, that is the dielectric constant value increased as Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3ceramic content increased while the dielectric loss value reduced at higher Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3ceramic content. The piezoelectric coefficient (d33) values of composites obtained were in the range of 48 pC/N to 73 pC/N. Moreover, composite with Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3ceramic content of ≈ 30 vol% exhibited highest piezoelectric voltage coefficient (g33) value of 26.06 mV m/N. Therefore, these promising results showed that the 2–2 connectivity pattern lead-free piezoelectric ceramic Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3/Portland cement composite has the potential to be used as a sensor for structural health monitoring application. |
