Abstract: This study focuses on the mushroom species and variety at Sanpatong and Maewang areas, in Chiang Mai Province. The purpose of this research is to servey mushrooms in these area and identify their scientific names. This study was conducted in May to August 2012 and May to August 2013. This was done by taking photographs of mushroom and comparing them to the list of known mushroom. The people in these areas were interviewed to shed using and consumption of mushroom varieties. These photos and information were used for teaching in biology classes at Debsirin School, Sanpatong District, Chiang Mai Province. The study found 108 kinds of mushroom. They were classified into 2 phylums, 2 classes, 9 orders, 23 families, 45 genus and 77 species. From the survey, 63 mushroom species were discovered in Sanpathong district. Forty-five species were considered edible and 18 species and no repart of edible. In Maewang district, 45 mushroom species were found. Twenty-nine were edible while the rest have no report. The edible mushrooms found were in Russulaceae. Twelve species of the edible mushroom were from Sanpatong district and 10 species from Maewang district. The inedible mushrooms were classified in family Polyporaceae. Three species were found in Sanpatong and 7 more are in Maewang. The genus Russula that were Russula alboareolata, R. Delica and R. virescens The two of genus Amanita ; Amanita javanica and A. princeps were discovered in this survey. The results of the study were used for teaching Biology. The use of electronic media was very helpful to the Matthayom 6 students. They were interested and satisfied with the lessons about the different varieties of mushroom in Sanpathong and Maewang Districts. Overall student satisfaction was rated at about 91.12. It was an excellent rating.
