Abstract: Hypothermia among elderly undergoing general anesthesia is a common phenomenon that may occurs during thes, preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative phases. This physical response affects important body systems. This development study aimed to develop Clinical Practice Guideline (CPGs) for hypothermia prevention among elderly patients undergoing general anesthesia at Lamphun hospital. The framework used to develop the guidelines were based on the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC, 1999). The CPGs was validated by 3 experts. Purposive sampling was used to select 4 health care workers to be part of the CPGs development team, 5 elderly patients undergoing general anesthesia, and 5 other health care workers to implement the CPGs. The study was conducted from October 2013 to December 2014. The study instrument was a feasibility questionnaire. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The following results were found : 1. The developed clinical practice guidelines consisted of 36 items. Recommendations were divided into 5 components: 1) protection of patients rights and ethical consideration, 2) hypothermia prevention assessment, 3) hypothermia management, 4) continuation of hypothermia prevention , and 5) Quality improvements to service; and 2. The CPGs were feasible to implement. The CPGs for hypothermia prevention should be applied with elders undergoing general anesthesia, at Lamphun Hospital.
