Abstract: | The objective of this independent study was to find out defect reduction in mug handle cutting process using design of experiment technique in Home Pottery Co., Ltd. The company was not make 3,000 pieces of ceramic mug because of the defects in the ceramic mug process. The method was as follow: First, the ceramic mug was studied to select the process which had the defect problems. It was found that mug handle cutting process that had 73.37 percent of total of defects. Then, the defects of mug handle were collected to select the defects of mug handle by Pareto for improvement the process. It was found that asymmetry, crack, tear and break of mug handle were the defect which had 97.07 percent of cumulative total of defect. After that, the defect of mug handle were solved by affinity diagram that used brainstorming, it was found that 3 way for solving such as machine used design of experiment technique, methods made work instruction and people was trained. Finally, solving the defect of mug handle used half factorial 2V5-1 to find out the suitable condition for set up mug handle cutting machine which had response was percent of defects of small coffee mug handle (MB-ESC-80). The result was that suitable condition for set up mug handle cutting machine were block of mug handle angle 81.5 degree, shearing 4.5 cm., width of mug handle 7.5 cm., high of right mug handle for symmetry 9.4 cm., and the moisture of mug handle 20 percent. In conclusion, the defects of mug handle process reduce from 5 to 1.5 percent. |
