Abstract

The purposes of the study were to 1) study the current status of the Alumni Relations Centre, Chiang Mai University and 2) study alumni network capacity enhancement. There were four areas of the study: network links, communication efficiency, management policies, and resources (budget, qualified alumni). The study was qualitative research. In-depth interviews were used for data analysis. The sample was 12 people including with university boards, the director of the alumni relations centre, and the president of the alumni association.

The findings of the study were as follows: 1) The current status of the alumni relations centre was to collect the basic information of alumni and link the communication to make a network. University boards and the president of the alumni association were the leaders who made the alumni network. Therefore, the members knew their roles and had the same goal. There were also activities in the network. 2) In terms of alumni network capacity enhancement, creating activities in the network could increase the amount of members. Therefore, there was also support and budget from the network. In terms of the evaluation of the potential of the network, it might be determined by the size of the network. Meanwhile, the quality of the network was determined by the diversity of the group members and the stability of the system.
