Abstract: The purposes of this independent study were 1) to develop learning process on local art and culture and to improve skill on creating local art work for the 6th grade students, and 2) to develop a positive attitude for the 6th grade students toward their local culture. The sample used in this study was a group of 26 students in the 6th grade / 2 at Anuban Chaehom School located in Lampang Province. The instruments used in this study were 1) six instruction plans involving the 3rd instruction unit and a field trip in their local area, 2) twenty questions of pre-test and post-test on the knowledge of local art ; the tests had 0.65 reliable, 3) an evaluation on students’ work using rating scale; these evaluation covered five questions, 4) an evaluation concerning students’ behavior toward their working process that included ten questions, 5) self-report, and 6)questionnaire concerning learning activities. All data obtained were analyzed by using means, percentage and standard deviation. The resultsof study were as follows: 1) Including field trip into the learning process and skill development had helped students gain knowledge and improve a better understanding on their local culture. Moreover, to compare the score of pre-test to post-test, it indicated that the average score of post-test was higher than the score of pre-test by 81.55 percent, which was at very good level. The set criteria for learning process was at60 percent. The set criteria on students’ behavior was at 75 percent, but the students’ average score was 81.60 percent. Learning process and skill had also been improved.
