Abstract: The objective of this independent study was to examine the needs and problems in using information system operations for the top executive of Varee Chiangmai School. The needed information were provided by the school director who is also the manager and the license holder and six people in the school committees. Also the school information technology system developers who are expertises in programme development and educational information system. The study of the information system for the decision making of the school top executive was divided into 3 sectors which were the information system operation, problem analysing and information system development for the school top executive. The study focused in 3 aspects which were hardware, software and personnel (school staff) and found that since 2010 Varee Chiangmai School has developed the information system interms of the equipment and the programme in PHP form for higher efficiency usage and separated into 9 difference types of task. Furthermore the problems were found in each aspect was inadequate information system interms of equipment and maintenance. The programmes were not updated enough for the command system, lack of planning in the operational system, the information system were not connected online and the system could not support in large number of users. For the personnel aspect, there was not enough staff to develop and maintain the information system. The lack of coordination, communication within the organisation leading to the needs in training the staff to understand the system and developing their skills. The school network needed to be built up. The short and long term plans also needed to be set in accordance to The Basic Education Commission's quality standard. The information data were needed to be collected into the system. The internal seminar could be organised to develop knowledge and skills for the school staff. Budget allocation was necessary for the system development and maintenance.
