Abstract: | This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of endophytic actinomycetes in promoting growth, yield, and quality of tomatoes. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse at the Center for Agricultural Resource System Research, Faculty of Agriculture, Chiang Mai University, Muang District, Chiang Mai Province, from November 2020 to March 2022. The study was divided into two sub-experiments. Sub-experiment 1 evaluated the efficiency of actinomycete endophytes in promoting the growth of tomato plants at the seedling stage. A completely randomized design (CRD) was employed for four treatments: (1) inoculation with Streptomyces violaceorectus TGsR-03-04, (2) Nocardiopsis alba TGsL-02-05, (3) combined inoculation of Streptomyces violaceorectus TGsR-03-04 with Nocardiopsis alba TGsL-02-05, and (4) control with a spore concentration of 107 cfu/ml of 1 ml per plant. The results indicated that actinomycete endophytes could colonize the roots of tomato seedlings across all inoculation treatments. The inoculation with TGsR-03-04 produced the highest mean fresh and dry weights of tomato roots. Regarding nutrient content, nitrogen concentration was highest in seedlings treated with TGsL-02-05 (3.62%), the highest potassium content was observed in the control treatment (9.08%), and the highest phosphorus content was found in plants treated with both TGsR-03-04 and TGsL-02-05 (0.86%). In addition, the highest calcium and magnesium concentrations in the root of the tomato seedlings were found in the TGsR-03-04 treatment with 0.99% and 0.58%, respectively. |
