Abstract: | This study aims to study the economic control of the Toong U court over the Lanna kingdom. A case study of tribute and tax collection during the period 1558 -1752, talking about the era of the early Toungoo dynasty, which expanded its territory into the Lanna kingdom. Especially the city of Chiang Mai as the center of the Lanna Kingdom. The researcher has explained and analyzed the tribute collection system. Reflects the traditional government structure. Political and economic problems according to the concept of Emperor Raja and the concept of Madala state, which influenced changes during the Toungoo Dynasty, the Restoration Era (Nyongyan), which had administrative and economic structures consistent with the concept of the nation state. (the nation state) in some respects The study found that the system of collecting tribute and taxes of the early Toungoo dynasty towards the Lanna Kingdom, the leader of the royal nation during the reign of King Bayinnaung, collected tribute and taxes in order to show his royal status as a royal emperor, who paid tribute and taxes. The apparent taxation of this world's connectivity with the rich worlds held together by distant habitations of millions of kingdoms drives the formal state's difficulty in regulating the organization of business. and the economy continuously It was used to hold on to the principles of Mangaraya, as in advance of the relationship of The Toungoo court being the only patronage that had to lead its existence without strict control precisely in the reign of King Bayinnaung at the end of the period. The external reign was directly underground in Chiang Mai, thus expanding the provinces of Chiang Mai and Lanna as much as possible with the Hongsawadee capital, singers by "Ba Yeng" singers, most of the demand for their own sons. The relationship between Chiang Mai for the first time was effective, Lanna and the capital Hongsawadee remained unchanged when they first invaded Chiang Mai in 1558. At the same time, during the reign of King Pye of the Restored Taungoo Dynasty, who faced security problems in the reign of power of the monarch that had been accumulated since the end of the early Taungoo Dynasty and the beginning of The Restored Taungoo Dynasty (Nyongyan).There was a change in the system of collecting tribute and taxes that came out in a new form of government using the mechanism of central power of the nobles and the power lever system within the Toong U court restored (Nyong Yan) using the knowledge from the beginning. The Toungoo dynasty was revived and developed further until during the reign of King Sanae Min where there was a change of government again. But the traditional rules for collecting tribute and taxes are still used. There was a general appointed by the King to act as governor of Chiang Mai, with a term of every 3 years. Other cities in the Lanna Kingdom still adhered to the same rules from the time of King Bayinnaung. Political and economic problems caused the change of government during The Restored Taungoo Dynasty(Nyongyan). both times, and these problems in turn resulted in the emergence of rebellions in Lanna, which these rebellions were related to Buddhism. Including affecting the collapse of the Restored Taungoo Dynasty (Nyonyan ) as well. In addition, the system of collecting tribute and taxes Including knowledge during the restoration of the Toungoo Dynasty (Nyongyan). The study found that the system for collecting tribute and taxes Can reflect the image of continuous evolution as well as knowledge related to the power mechanisms that link the real world with the ideal world together lessons learned from external and internal problems at the end of the Toungoo Dynasty and early period. The restoration of the Toungoo court (Nyongyan) required the development of a political system within the kingdom. So that the royal jurisdiction of the King has absolute power throughout the entire kingdom. It is like correcting defects from problems within the perimeter of the early Toungoo Kingdom. |
