Abstract: The thesis Doctor of Fine Art Program in Arts and Design titled “Capturing the Memory of Chiang Mai Architecture by using Printmaking” This research aims to study and document the transformation of Chiang Mai's vernacular architecture over time. It has two main objectives: first, to explore the cultural context of Chiang Mai's vernacular architecture through its changing forms and functions across different eras; and second, to create contemporary printmaking artworks that synthesize this knowledge and present it in an installation format, using the structures of Chiang Mai's vernacular architecture as a framework. This research has found that. 1. Transformation of Forms and Environments of Chiang Mai's Vernacular Architecture The research collects data to tell the story of the cultural and lifestyle changes of the city, which have gradually transformed from the past to the present, through the lens of architectural structures. This study helps to understand the diverse cultural foundations of Chiang Mai. Learning about this history will help to understand the current changes in social and cultural patterns that will affect the future. 2. Creation of Contemporary Artworks The research details the steps and processes involved in working with the forms of old architecture, selecting appropriate perspectives for composition, reflecting ideas through ฉ printmaking, stimulating emotions, and using printmaking to create new compositions. It also integrates different art forms such as digital media, street art, and graffiti and presents them through contemporary artworks. The aim is to create new and interesting knowledge, disseminate it to the general public, and help them understand the essence of the work, appreciate the value of vernacular architecture, and understand the context and culture that changes over time.
