Abstract: This study aims to analyse the behavior of Thai tourists towards selecting camping accommodation in Chiang Mai Province. The sample group consisted of 300 Thai people who visited Chiang Mai and stayed overnight in camping accommodation in the past 6 months. The sample group is selected by quota sampling, with 200 people who used accommodation priced less than 3,000 baht per night and 100 people who used accommodation priced higher than or equal to 3,000 baht per night. Data were collected using an online questionnaire. Statistics used in data analysis include frequency, percentage, mean, Chi-square, and t-test. Results indicated that most of the respondents: were female; were single; had a bachelor's degree in education; were employees of private companies; had an average monthly income of 15,000 - 25,000 baht; stayed an average of one night in the camping accommodation. Most of them stayed in camping accommodation in the form of yurt tents; have stayed in camping accommodation 2 - 3 times. They chose camping accommodations as a place to relax. There are other expenses besides the average camping room cost of 500 - 1,000 baht per night per person as well. The one who has the most influence on the decision to choose a camping accommodation is a friend. The duration for booking accommodation in advance is 7-14 days before check-in. Most of them chose to stay in the camping accommodation in winter, during weekends. The majority of chosen camping locations are situated on mountains/hills/peaks. The most common means of travel to the camping location was by personal car. Most respondents stayed in accommodation in Mae Rim and Mae Taeng Districts, and after staying, most of them continue traveling to nearby restaurants and coffee shops. Most respondents chose to reserve accommodation online, such as the accommodation's website, Facebook, Line, and chose to search for information about camping accommodation on social media (such as Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram). In terms of degrees of satisfaction with staying in camping accommodation, most respondents were satisfied, and will recommend camping accommodation to others. Most respondents would choose to reserve camping accommodation again in the future. The usual approach of staying at a camping accommodation is to stay at a single campsite and then travel back, by booking the camping accommodation first and then looking for nearby attractions.
