Abstract: | This research employed a quasi-experimental design, controlled study with pre-test and post-test design. The purpose of this research was to explore the effects of computer-based cognitive training program (Neofect Cognition) on attention and working memory in older adults with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). Twenty-three older adults with MCI were divided into two groups; the experimental group (n=13), which received a computer-based training program with the use of the Neofect Cognition for 6 executive weeks, 3 times per week, 45 minutes per session and the control group (n=10), which received education about MCI. Data were collected by assessing before and after participating in the program with the Trail Making Test (TMT) and the Thai Cognitive-Perceptual Test (Thai-CPT): Memory. Descriptive statical analysis, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and Mann-Whitney U-test were used to analyze the data. All analyses used 95% confidence intervals, and the significance level was p-value < 0.05 The result showed that the experimental group had a statistically significant difference in the pretest and post-test of working memory (p < 0.001) and attention (TMT-B) (p < 0.05), while control group had a statistically no significant difference. There was significant difference in the post-test attention (TMT-B) (p < 0.05) and working memory (p < 0.01) between both groups. From the results, it can be summarized that the computer-based training program (Neofect Cognition) can improve attention and working memory in older adults with MCI. |
