Abstract: Adolescents with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are increasingly having problems with game addiction, causing physical, mental, and social effects. This quasi-experimental research aimed to study the effects of the Motivational Interviewing program with parental participation on game behaviors of adolescents with ADHD. The samples consisted of 28 adolescents with ADHD. The instruments consisted of 1) the Personal Information Questionnaires 2) the Gaming Addiction Test (GAST), and 3) the Motivational Interviewing program with parental participation developed by the researchers based on the Motivational Interviewing (MI) concept of Miller and Rollinick (2002). This program consisted of five sessions, 30 – 45 minutes per session, once a week. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics: dependent t-test and independent t-test. Results of the research revealed that: 1. The mean score of game addiction behaviors among the experimental group after the treatment was lower than before the treatment with statistical significance (p < .01). 2. The mean score of game addiction behavior among the experimental group after treatment was lower than that of the control group with statistical significance (p < .01). The results of this study demonstrated that the MI program with parental participation on game addiction behaviors of adolescents with ADHD can reduce these behaviors in this group. Therefore, this program can be therapy and an alternative treatment for game addiction behaviors of adolescents with ADHD.
