Abstract: This independent study aimed to study the factors affecting the organizational commitment of staffs in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital. Using organizational commitment concepts and theories consist of job characteristics factors, namely, variety of job skills, job clarity, job challenge, the freedom to work, and job feedback. Work experience factors, namely, the feeling of trust among members of the department, the importance given by the department to its staff, staff’s expectations of the department, and the attitude of colleagues and department. The population of the study was 85 staff in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital. A questionnaire was distributed to gather information. The statistics used in the data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, and crosstabs. The findings revealed that 1) The majority of the respondents were male, aged between 20-30 years, with the marital status being married, educational level under bachelor's degree, has been working for more than 15 years, their position is operational staff, and earning 10,001-20,000 baht monthly. 2) Job Characteristics factors affect organizational commitment at a high level. When considering the sub-factors that affect organizational commitment at a high level are job clarity, followed by job challenge, variety of job skills, job feedback, and the freedom to work, respectively. 3) Work experience factors affect organizational commitment at a high level. When considering the sub-factors that affect organizational commitment at a high level are the importance given by the department to its staff, followed by the attitude of colleagues and department, the feeling of trust among members of the department, and staff’s expectations of the department, respectively.
