Abstract: The purpose of this research was to study the effect of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy group counseling on the congruence of counselors in training. The research design used was the quasi experimental pretest-posttest control group design. The sample group was composed of 18 third year undergraduate counselors in training from Faculty of Education, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University. The samples (n=18) were assigned into two groups: experimental group (n=10) and control group (n=8). The experimental group participated in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy group counseling conducted by the researcher for approximately 15 hours over 2 consecutive days. The research instruments used were Acceptance and Commitment Therapy based group counseling program for developing congruence of counselors in training, the congruence inventory constructed by the researcher and the collected qualitative data. The congruence inventory was rated by two parties including the counselors in training and the clients. The Data were analyzed by using the t-test (dependent group) and the t-test (independent group). The results revealed that: 1. The Acceptance and Commitment Therapy group counseling enhancedcongruence scores significantly higher in posttest compared with pretest at the .01 level 2. The Acceptance and Commitment Therapy group counseling enhancedcongruence scores of the experimental group significantly higher than the control group at the .01 level. The experience of the sample group after participated in ACT program was analyzed based on six core processes of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. The results revealed that the samples were able to observe their thought, emotional, memory, and physical experiences through being in the present and being fully with themselves. Additionally, as a result of accepting their Experiential Avoidance without wasting time ruminating, the samples were found more confident and less pressure. They were also able to connect with their values as well as increasing their self-respect after finishing program. Apart from personal life development, their career life was promoted as well. As being the counselors in training, they are able to apply what they have learned from the group counseling sessions into their personal congruence practice. Therefore, this program was able to enhance their quality to be better counselors along with raising their life satisfaction.
