Abstract: This research aimed to study the structural causal relationship of family relationship and empathy on prosocial behavior with helping attitude as a mediator. The sample consisted of 345 undergraduate students in Chiang Mai University who were selected using the purposive sampling method. The data was collected using questionnaires on family relationship, empathy, helping attitude, and prosocial behavior. The statistics used for data analysis were descriptive statistics, including, frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The structural equation modeling analysis in a form of path analysis using the maximum likelihood estimation method was also employed. The findings showed that the modified model fit the empirical data (X2 =1.273, df = 1, X2/df = 1.273, p-value = .259, GFI = ,998, CFI = .999, NFI = .997, RMSEA = .028). Family relationship and empathy, with helping attitude as a mediator, showed indirect positive effect towards prosocial behavior with the influence coefficients at . 271 and . 250 respectively. Moreover, helping attitude had direct positive effect on prosocial behavior with the influence coefficients at .500. In addition, it was found that family relationship had a direct positive effect towards empathy with the influence coefficient at .487.
