Abstract: Theaim of this independent studyis to develop a data analytics and visualization using antibiotic prescription data in the critical care unit. Since usage of antibiotics in the current situation is extremely high, eventually it has resulted in the global development of antibiotic resistance, affecting patient treatment and outcomes. Inappropriate or poor antibiotic usage can result in prolonged duration of stay, multidrug-resistant infections, or evendeath. Furthermore, critically ill patients admitted to Intensive Care Units (ICUs) are at greater risk of serious morbidity and death if antibiotic therapy fails. Despite the hospital's establishment of the "Antibiotic smart use team" to control antibiotic consumption in order to make it more cost-effective and safer, the amount of antibiotics used in intensive or critical care unit wards continues to rise. As a result, determining whether the prescriptions are appropriate is challenging. In this independent study, we will focus on developing a reproducible automated process to extract and transform (ET) antibiotic prescription data from the critical care unit into appropriate transactional data, which allows further analysis and visualization. Furthermore, this study aims to build analytical visualization according to the requirements acquired from the executive of the Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai hospital's Antibiotic smart usage team. This study reveals significant insights from antibiotic usage in critical care units, which will be able to supply as supporting data for the quarterly meeting of the Antibiotic Controller's Board of Directors in order to improve the clinical care system and, most importantly, will be a primary supporting data for future health data decision support system development in Thailand.
