Abstract: | The objectives of this research were 1) to study the needs of the disadvantaged groups in Nam Phrae Pattana Sub-district Municipality, Hang Dong District, Chiang Mai Province 2) to propose project development guidelines to meet the needs of the disadvantaged groups in Nam Phrae Sub-district Municipality. This qualitative research employed Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs Theory, which has prioritized human needs from the initial stage to the next stages respectively, as a conceptual framework. In terms data collection, surveys and interviews were utilized with the disadvantaged groups in Nam Phrae Pattana Sub-district Municipality, consisting of poor people, homeless people, people without civil registration status, ex-convicts, and people living with HIV/AIDS groups. The results of the study revealed that: 1) For physiological needs, disadvantaged groups who had needs at this stage included poor people, homeless people, people without civil registration status, ex-convicts, and people living with HIV/AIDS. 2) For safety needs, disadvantaged groups who had needs at this stage were poor people, homeless people, people without civil registration status, ex-convicts, and people living with HIV/AIDS. 3) In terms of love and belonging needs, disadvantaged groups who had needs at this stage consisted of poor people, homeless people, people without civil registration status, ex-convicts, and people living with HIV/AIDS. 4) In terms of esteem needs, none of the disadvantaged groups had this level of need. 5) For self-actualization, none of the disadvantaged groups had this level of need. Furthermore, the findings have proposed the following development guidelines to meet the needs of the disadvantaged group in Nam Phrae Sub-district Municipality. 1) A funding project to help the poor people, a renovation/repair project for poor housing, an elderly and bedridden home visit project, and a prosthetic center project to meet the first level needs of all disadvantaged groups 2) An occupation promotion project or a vocational training center to meet the second level needs of all disadvantaged groups 3) Activities to promote family relationships, a sexually transmitted disease awareness project, a sports project, a senior school project, and activities to promote equality in society, etc., to meet the third level needs of all disadvantaged group; and activities to promote knowledge and understanding for those without civil registration status or to meet the needs of the disadvantaged group without civil registration status |
