Abstract

This research aimed to understand the psychological experience and feminine identity of female college students toward alcohol use, using qualitative research methods with interpretive phenomenological analysis. The main informants were female students aged between 18-25 years old at a university in Chiang Mai, with typically use alcohol on at least one occasion a week, totaling 8 people. The findings indicated the argument of the study: Suppressed by the discourse on the "Good Women", female students who drink are stigmatized as bad women. However, they do not surrender to the discourse by negotiating between their feminine identity and drinking practices. The argument was supported by 2 themes: 1) discourse on femininity and drinking; 2) femininity and drinking alcohol.
