Abstract

Aircraft noise is a problem that significantly affects people around Chiangmai International Airport, whether in the environment, health, and quality of life. Currently, Chiangmai has unclarity guidelines for managing land use around the airport. Therefore, there are many complaints from people living in the area and causing issues with the appropriateness of the airport's compensation process to the public. Thus, this research presents a monetary value determination to assess the willingness to accept compensation from aircraft noise impacts around Chiangmai International Airport and analyze factors affecting willingness to accept compensation. The results were found using the Contingent valuation method by using a questionnaire from 422 residents around Chiangmai International Airport and analyzing the data using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. That the average value of willingness to accept compensation from aircraft noise is between 458 and 2,039 baht per person per month. The factor that significantly influenced the value of willingness to accept compensation was the high level of aircraft noise impact. The study results can reflect the actual value of the compensation requirement of those affected people. This value can be used as a guide for determining the appropriate compensation for future aircraft noise impact compensation.
