Abstract

This research is qualitative research which used visual surveys and the interview with the owners or residents of the architectures. All architectures are located on the main street in old city area of Lamphun: Khum Jao (Traditional Thai-style house), government offices, private residences, commercial buildings and commercial residential buildings. The main streets in this study are Charoen Rat road, Inthayongyot road, Chai Mongkol road, Mukda road, Pratu Li road, and Wat Phra Yuen road. Also, the researcher implemented the survey on the valuable architectures for conservation and mapping the architectural locations in the map, totaling 123 buildings. The data were collected and prioritized the values and conditions of architectures into graphs, including the mapping process. As a result, the architectures in the study can be divided into 4 groups according to the architecture conservation process. 1) The most valuable architectures that are in dilapidated condition 2) The valuable architectures that are in dilapidated condition 3) The most valuable architectures that are in good condition and 4) The valuable architectures that are in good condition. The findings of this study lead to appropriate renovation approach considering the urgency and conditions. This is because the architectures need proper preservation in terms of history and architectural styles, and urban landscape to prevent the architectures from deterioration. Moreover, there should be the suggestion about conservation for local authorities, local people, and the architectures owners in order to plan Lamphun sustainable urban landscape.
