Abstract: | A qualitative study on the development of a knowledge model for promoting waste separation intentions among university student leaders is being conducted. The goals of this research are as follows: 1. to investigate the pattern and process of waste management and waste separation at Chiang Mai University. 2. to research the key knowledge that promotes the intention of Chiang Mai University students' leadership in waste separation. 3. to create a knowledge model for promoting waste separation student leaders' intentions in the university. This study's population consisted of 47 Chiang Mai University student leaders. It was a study based on the knowledge management concept and the Theory of Planned Behavior: TPB, a social psychology theory, combined with the waste management concept and the 3R principles. The research employs a five-step Knowledge Engineering procedure. Questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and statistical analysis including percentage, mean, and standard deviation were used to collect data. According to the framework of the three-factor plan behavior theory, it was discovered in this study that the important knowledge issues in promoting the intention of separating waste of student leaders have details of the important topics of knowledge for each factor as follows: 1. Waste separation intention was influenced by three factors: knowledge of the importance and benefits of waste separation, knowledge of the impact on resources and the environment, and knowledge of consciousness and responsibility for waste separation. 2. Subjective Norms on the intention of separating waste included five groups: family, friends, professors, Chiang Mai University (organizations / institutions), and media, as well as famous people such as celebrities, actors, singers. 3. Factors of perception of ability to control behavior toward waste separation intention were divided into two factors: issues of waste separation self-efficacy; and knowledge of Chiang Mai University's resource factors that facilitate or support their waste separation. The researcher used such knowledge issues to create a knowledge model and tested it on the population. The findings revealed that the mean of attitude factors toward waste separation intention increased and reached the highest level. The factors of subjective norms to waste separation intention were lower mean and at a high level. The behavioral control cognition factor on waste sorting intention was higher mean and at a high level. According to the framework of the theory of planned behavior, the mean of the three factors at the very highest or high level influenced the waste separation intentions of student leaders and can be used to predict trends in the occurrence of waste separation behavior among student leaders at the high to highest level. The key knowledge points and developed knowledge model for promoting the intention of waste separation of university student leaders can be used to formulate knowledge management guidelines or activities to promote waste separation, leading to the goal of efficient energy and environmental development, as a result of the study's findings. |
