Abstract: The purposes of this research study were 1) to study learning provisions using games to promote number senses of grade 8 students and 2) to study number senses of grade 8 students who study through learning provisions using games. The target group was 16 of grade 8 students at Thai Rath Witthaya 79 (Ban Nong Aab Chang) school, Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province in the second semester of the academic year 2018. The instruments used in this rescarch were as follow: 1) game-based lesson plans which promote number senses, 2) activity sheets for measuring number senses of students during learning, 3) post-teaching record forms, 4) a number sense test which assesses all 5 components including 1) having well-understood of both cardinal and ordinal number meanings, 2) understanding the relative magnitudes of numbers, 3) developing intuitions about the relative effect of operating on numbers, 4) flexible mental computation and 5) estimation. The data were analyzed by percentage, mean and content analysis. The result showed that 1) learning provisions using games to promote the number senses should use games that familiar to students but adjust rules or add some conditions to promote each component of number senses. For starting the lesson, using games based on real life situation in order to let students understand that number senses can help them to solve problems easily, During playing games, students should discuss and exchange knowledge and give reasonable answer to support their understandings. 2) The results of the number sense of students who learn through learning provisions using games in each component comparing between mean score from activity sheets during learning and that of from the test showed as follow: for having well-understood of both cardinal and ordinal number meanings, the score was increased 44.52 precents, for understanding the relative magnitudes of numbers, the score was increased 15.48 precents, for developing intuitions about the relative effect of operating on numbers, the score was increased 8.25 precents, for flexible mental computation, the score was decreased 16.37 precents and for estimation, the score was decreased 2.56 precents. Thus, from the learning provisions using games to promote number senses of students, it was found that the students had developed 3 aspects and decreased 2 aspects of number senses.
