Abstract: Purchasing Behavior and Use of Chemical Pesticides of Rice Farmers in San Sai District, Chiang Mai Province. There are two study objectives : 1) To study the characteristics of socio-economic conditions of rice farmers in San Sai District, Chiang Mai Province 2) To study the purchasing behavior and use of chemical pesticides of rice farmers in San Sai District, Chiang Mai Province. The data consisted of data from 325 questionnaires. The collected data were quantitatively analyzed with descriptive statistics. and analysis with statistical programs. The results of the study found that Most of the farmers are male. who are between 51 - 60 years old, have marital status Graduated with vocational certificate. Secondary occupations are gardening, animal husbandry, handicrafts, trading and farming. 20,001-25,000 baht. Own land and lease for farming 5-10 rai and have more than 10 years of experience. Pesticides are purchased for convenience, speed and reduce the loss of production. Popular brands to buy are divided into 4 types: (1) insecticides are Cypermethrin 35 (2) the herbicide is glyphosate, (3) the fungicide is carbendazim, and (4) the rodenticide and rodenticide is SES-R, mainly. buy for weed control from agrochemical shop in the community with advice on the use of chemical pesticides The purchase frequency is about two months at a time. In the amount of 1 - 5 bottles at a time during Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Farmers often decide to buy chemicals by themselves by asking for information from stores or dealers. The farmer's behavior in using pesticides can be divided into three periods: behavior before spraying. wearing rubber gloves Wear a mask or cloth covering your mouth and nose. while preparing chemicals and the use of chemical stir sticks Behavior during spraying of pesticides, it was found that farmers practiced every time Wearing long sleeves, long pants, tight clothing, gloves, hats or headbands, boots, smoking or eating while injecting is sometimes practiced. and behavior after spraying pesticides. It was found that farmers practiced every time Cleaning the body and wearing clothes sprayed with chemicals. The cleaning part of the sprayer equipment It is almost always practiced to keep equipment or chemicals in high places or out of the reach of children. and destroying containers containing chemicals by burying them in the ground Placing a sign warning of the date of chemical spraying in the plantation area has never been practiced. Finding the relationship between important demographic factors and marketing mix (4P) found that farmers of different sexes. There were no differences in opinion on the marketing mix factors influencing the purchase of pesticides in all aspects. Older farmers are more focused on the marketing mix that influences all aspects of the purchase of pesticides than younger farmers. Single farmers pay more attention to the price marketing mix. distribution channel less than farmers with marital status but not different in terms of products Farmers with high levels of education give importance to all aspects of the marketing mix. than farmers with less education statistically significant at the 0.05 level.
