Abstract: Municipal solid waste in Banthi Sub-district Municipality has increased. Therefore, the municipal solid waste must be managed appropriately. The objective of this study was to determine the quantity and composition of municipal solid waste from Banthi Sub-district Municipality and to assess the municipal solid waste utilization. It was found that Banthi Sub-district Municipality has approximately 3.83 ton/day. The highest organic composition was food waste, accounting for 30.0 percent. The highest inorganic compositions were glass and aluminum, accounting for 5.0 percent per each composition. In case of the municipal solid waste utilization, the energy content was estimated to be 10,481.9 btu/lb. In case of anaerobic fermentation, the biogas production was estimated to be 10,481.9 btu/lb. In case of anaerobic fermentation, the biogas production was estimated to be 28.2 cubic meter.
