Abstract

Today most major cities face with traffic problems, especially at junctions or intersections where traffic light signal has been installed, during rush hours in particular. The organization that plays a key role in solving traffic problems is traffic police section, which has information, experience, participation with other sectors and access to traffic problems. To properly manage traffic light signal and solve traffic problems, it mostly rests with traffic police. In this study, the writer has compiled data about traffic volume at 4 junctions on Highway No. 11 in Chiang Mai Province. Then the writer simulates vehicles traveling on the highway with the Sidra Intersection Software. Two simulations have been tried and compared, namely, automatic traffic light control or Adaptive VA and traffic light controlled by traffic police or manual system. Findings from the two simulations are as follows: the results show that the efficiency of the system is similar.
