Abstract: | In this thesis, a network reconfiguration technique implemented with optimal tie switch allocation is proposed to minimize the energy loss in distribution systems due to the improper installation of DG together with the reverse power flow problem resulting in high power loss. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique is used to determine the optimal tie switch allocation. This proposed method is performed using MATLAB and DIgSILENT PowerFactory. It can be implemented with a practical distribution system from the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), Thailand. The IEEE 33 bus test system is used to verify the accuracy of the proposed method. Besides, a distribution system of the Provincial Electricity Authority of Thailand (PEA) at Khanu Woralaksaburi District, Kamphaeng Phet Province is selected as a case study due to the improper installation of the DG problem. The simulation test results show that the proposed method can significantly reduce not only the energy losses but also the voltage drop in the network. |
