Abstract: In recent years, provisioning urban green space has been highlighted as an essential strategy for urbanization planning and sustainable urban development. The non-motorized Transportation also has been promoted for decreasing the uses of fossil fuel. Walking is a part of transportation system that connects the others together. An appropriate walkway should be convenience, safe and aesthetics. Walkway facilities and roadside trees are the key elements of urban green spaces for recreational activities of urban residents that could provide psychological and physiological health benefits to the residents. This study therefore aims to investigate the human thermal comfort and acceptable range of temperature after short walks along walkways through evaluating the Physiological Equivalent Temperature (PET). Various environment factors were used to evaluate the psychological responses of participants. The results show that the pedestrians in Chiang Mai University have the thermal comfort at 25.2 °C PET across five walkways with the acceptable range of 24.6 - 32.0 °C PET. Moreover, the analytical results show that among the environment factors influencing the level of Physiological Equivalent Temperature, air temperature and wind speed are the most influencing ones. The results of the study can be used as a guidance to develop the physical and environmental features of the green walkways, while encouraging pedestrian usage.
