Abstract: The purposes of this research were to 1) create and determine the quality of lesson plans for improving critical reading abilities in studying Thai subject by using REAP strategies among grade 2 students, 2) compare critical reading abilities in studying Thai subject using REAP strategies among grade 2 students prior to and after learning, and 3) study happiness in learning Thai subject by using REAP strategies among grade 2 students during and after learning. The research sample was 27 students of grade 2/2 of 2nd semester in academic year 2019 of Anubanchaehom School which was chosen by cluster random sampling. The research instruments were lesson plan evaluation form, critical reading test, happiness behavior observation form, and happiness scale. Quantitative data were analyzed by means, standard deviation, and t-test. Qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis and descriptive explanation. The results of this research were as follow: 1. Lesson plans for improving critical reading abilities in Thai subject by using REAP strategies among grade 2 students had 25 plans in total 25 hours. This lesson plans had quality at a very good level. 2. The students’ critical reading abilities in Thai subject after using REAP strategies were higher than prior to learning at the .01 level of significance. 3. The students’ happiness in learning Thai subject during learning reflected in 6 components and after using REAP strategies was at a high level.
