Abstract: The purposes of the research were (1) to study in individual factors, social factors and economic factors of farmers who take part in contract broiler farming with private sectors, (2) to studyfactors affecting decision to be a contract broiler farming with private sectors and (3) to investigate problems, obstacles and suggestion for being in the poject. The population and sampleswere120 farmers in Lamphun Province; 78 farmers were in the project and 42 farmers were not. The collected data were from close-ended questions and open-ended questions, and they were analyzed by SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) to calculate the mean, maximum and minimum values, standard deviation to examine the relationship of independent variable – the individual background, economic factors, and other factors – that influencing the dependent variable by analyzed the relationship of various factors affecting decision to be a contract broiler farming with private sectors in Lamphun Province and calculate for the Chi – square. The results demonstrated that most farmers who took part in the project were male aged 43.35 years old in average, graduated grade 6, married and were the heads of the families, and had the main career as agriculturists. Their income was 23,459.46 baht per month in average. They got loans fromBank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, and received the information about the project from their neighbors. They owned their property 8.70 rai per person in average, and their debt value was 803,209 baht per person in average. Most farmers that didn’t take part in the project were male, aged 39.60 years old in average, graduated grade 6, married and were the heads of the families, and had the main career as agriculturists. Their income was 26,051.28 baht per month in average. They didn’t get the investment to make farms, and received the information about the project from their neighbors. They rented the property 5.81 rai per person in average. There were four factors that related to participating in the project; (1) producing factors, farmers received good quality of breeds and feed, knowledge and suggestion about raising broilers and frequent examination, including the obvious period for taking broilers in and out of farming process, (2) marketing and pricing factors, there were certain markets for yield, and the producing factors related to the price, (3) supporting factors from the private sectors and their personnel, the reputation and the reliability of the supporting company could support the loan possibility, there were variedalternatives for investment sizes to choose, and the farmers received the suggestion before participating with the project, (4) social factors, family labor, example of successful farmers, and obtaining knowledge and information from agricultural extensionistsor officers of Department of Livestock. There were some obstacle that affected the farmers who were in the project e.g. (1) some famers were lack of knowledge about farming, (2) they owned insufficient land for farming, (3) there were inadequate labor and investment for the companies’ condition, (4) water was scarce to expand their farms in the future.
