Abstract: The objectives of the study were 1) to study about Guard Shifting Pattern for the Officials in Chiang Mai Women Correctional Institution 2) to study the impact of guard duty of the officials in Chiang Mai Women Correctional Institution 3) to develop the appropriate pattern of guard shifting for the officials in Chiang Mai Women Correctional Institution. The study used a questionnaire and interview schedule to collect data from 45 officials in Chiang Mai Women Correctional Institution. The results were summarized below. 1) The guard shifting pattern for the officials in Chiang Mai Women Correctional Institution had the performance as follows: In one week, the officials had to work three nights and one day and all officials had to rotate shift work. The command that assigned to work on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday was scheduled on Monday and the command that assigned to work on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday was scheduled on Thursday. 2) The impact of guard duty was the social impact that made the officials lost the important time spent with the important person in their lives and no time to relax. 3) The appropriate pattern of guard shifting for the officials in Chiang Mai Women Correctional Institution should be adjusted in the management which prepared more tools, materials, and technology to support the performance of guard shifting and assign guard duty one month in advance. The officials could select their own shifts, rotate shifts, and assign place of duty. On the duty of guard shifting would appropriate for the officials in Chiang Mai Women Correctional Institution so that the suggestions of the study were as follows: 1) The institution should provide more technology to control the prisoners to decrease the number of officials that work in shifts. 2) The institution should adjust the assignment of guard duty as one month in advance so that the officials can plan a long-term lifestyle and relieve problem with no time to relax. 3) The institution should provide the opportunities for the officials to take part in modifying the assignment of guard duty.
