Abstract: The Objective of this independent research is to study the outcome of using a preparation package in writing skills for a children with Down Syndrome and to compare scores of writing skills before, during and after using preparation package. This case study use purposive sampling. We undertook a case-control study at Rajanagarindra Institute of Child Development, Chiang Mai who is a 7 years old boy. Intellectual level 73 and diagnosed by doctor as Down Syndrome. Case study was conducted in kindergarten grade 3, Dara academy school, Chiang Mai. Instruments used in the study include: 1) preparation package that consisted of 10 educational plans which consist of 5 learning preparation activities and 5 written styles 2) evaluation form of capabilities and 3) behavioral observation form of a case study. The results showed that the writing ability of Down Syndrom child before, during and after using the preparation package have increased gradually as follows: 55.56 % (fair) , 69.44 % (good), 72.22 % (very good) , 91.67 % (excellent) and 100 % (excellent) , from the first week to the fourth week, accordingly. For the behavioral observation part, After using writing preparation package for 2 weeks, he showed a good attention span and enthusiastic. Moreover, he could hold the pencil firmly with static tripod grasp (thumb, index finger and middle finger) and control hand writing movement by wrist. However, he could not write at appropriately speed and dexterity. Sometimes the researcher must help and give suggestions on writing direction. For the period of 4 weeks, the case study showed good controls of the movement of wrist in writing , such as start writing immediately, writing at appropriately speed and completely, and completely writing on dash lines. Besides, case study had a very good attention span. In addition, the conversation with his parents provided two issues; 1) curiosity of child; 2) changing in hand writing such as case study can start writing consonants by himself, writing alphabets in any directions correctly, deeply and clearly.
