Abstract: This thesis presents a study of distributed generation control in distribution networks, specifically focusing on the hierarchical control strategy utilized by the system. The control hierarchy comprises three levels: primary control, secondary control, and tertiary control. Additionally, control in distribution systems can be executed through communication networks, which pose significant constraints. Nodes in these networks often rely on energy storage systems, leading to limitations in data transmission. Periodic data transmission across the network is frequently unfeasible due to power constraints. Therefore, to reduce the communication load, the amount of data transmitted through the network must be minimized. This thesis focuses specifically on the tertiary control system for economic dispatch, using the event-triggered method to reduce the amount of communication data between distributed generators (DGs). The theoretical findings presented in this thesis have been validated through a case study featuring a model system with DGs that have varying cost functions and multiple loads. The model was tested using computer simulations. Based on the test results, it was found that DGs with lower costs are stimulated to generate more power output, while those with higher costs reduce their power output. Moreover, data transmission between systems occurs only when changes are made, thereby reducing the frequency of data transmission and the cost of electrical power. This aligns with the principles of distributed event-triggered communication.
