Abstract: The problem of electricity quality in the distribution system has impacts on various aspects. Moreover, currently, there is a rising trend in the use of renewable energy, which may exacerbate the electricity quality issues. This research has developed a model to categorize electricity quality problems in distribution systems with renewable energy sources. Mathematical equations were used to generate disturbance signals for electricity quality problems, employing discrete wavelet transform for signal processing to extract features, and utilizing machine learning from artificial neural networks for classification. Subsequently, the model was tested on the IEEE 9-bus system and signals of Provincial Electricity Authority quality problems from the regional power system. MATLAB and SIMULINK were used for model development and testing to verify its accuracy and applicability for categorizing electricity quality problems occurring in distribution systems.
