Abstract

This study aimed to examine and analyze appropriate on-street parking fee rates in Chiang Mai Municipality for car and motorcycle users. The analysis data included 436 car ownership respondents who parked on Praisanee and Wichayanon roads Waroros Market (kad luang) area and Wungsingkom road in front of Chiang Mai Municipality office. In addition, 340 motorcycle owners who parked on Wichayanon road in the vicinity of Waroros Market (Kad luang) also were interviewed. The data was analyzed using Kishi's logit Price Sensitive Measurement to find appropriate on-street parking fee rates and then applied those prices to find the parking usages. The study results found that the appropriate parking fee rate was between 8 and 11 baht per hour for motorcycle. The important factors influenced on-street Parking for car usages included ages, income, duration of parking, parking fee, safety, and convenience and for motorcycle usage were genders, occupations, income, duration of parking, parking fee, and available parking spaces. The applied logistic model at appropriate parking fee between 19-23 bath per hour for car and 8-1 1 bath per hour for motorcycle indicated the probability of parking usage between 5-20 percentage for car users and 12-30 percentage for motorcycle users.
