Abstract

The study of “Factors Affecting Parents' Decision Making in Selecting Primary School for their Children: A Case Study of Mueang Chi Sub district, Mueang District, Lamphun ProvinceProvince” has its purposes of study which were 1) to study parents' behavior in Mueang Chi Subdistrict, Mueang District, Lamphun Provin ce 2) to study factors affecting parent's decision making in selecting a primary school for their children in Mueang Chi Subdistrict, Mueang District, Lamphun Province 3) to study problems and obstacles affecting parent's decision making in selecting a pri mary school for their children in Mueang Chi Subdistrict, Mueang District, Lamphun Province by interviewing the sample group of 400 participants to analyze by using Descriptive Statistics Analysis, Logit model, including the analytical technique of Maximum Likelihood Estimates or MLE, and Marginal Effects. The research findings showed that the participants were mainly female at the average age of 46 years old, graduated with Diploma degree, work as a self employed, has an average income within 2020,000 THB p er month, with the average household size of 4 members, and the number of a family member who is currently studying in a primary school is 1 person. The participants' decision making behavior in selecting a primary school for their children in Mueang Chi Subdistrict, Mueang District, Lamphun Province, 54 .75% have selected Public School, regular curriculum, with its distance from home to school between 2 5 kilometers which take less than 10 minutes to travel from home to school and let their children travel by school bus. The analytical of factors affecting parent's decision making behavior in selecting a primary school for their children in Mueang Chi Subdistrict, Mueang District, Lamphun Province, has shown the results of Log likelihood function equals 53.53.19912, Restricted Log likelihood equals 275. 45451, Chi Squared equals 444 .5.5197, McFadden Pseudo R squared equals 0.8074, and the accuracy of this prediction is 94 .50% Suggestions: Mainly require curriculum specialists and schools to manage teaching mate rials and curriculums that support children's development in a proper age and build morals and ethics in every aspect alongside with knowledge. Schools should have modern teaching techniques by bringing technologies in and teachers should have responsibili ties, knowledge, and constant self development.
