Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine people’s awareness towards electronic waste of mobile phone in Chiang Mai district and the personal factors affecting the awareness towards electronic waste of mobile phone in Chiang Mai district. The Data in the study were primary data and they were collected via questionnaires from people who lived in Chiang Mai district with a total of 384 samples. The data was analyzed by Descriptive statistics and Quantitative data analysis which included Logit model, maximum likelihood estimates and marginal effects. The finding about the respondents were as follows: 61% of people that took the questionnaire were female, 43% of the respondents aged between 16-26 years old. Moreover, 69% of all respondents that held a bachelor’s degree and 37% are employed by the government or government enterprises. Lastly, 43% receive a monthly income about 22,374 Baht per month. The results of this study found the opinions of the respondents that took The electronic waste of mobile phone questionnaire that the respondents disagree the most that the electronic waste can be discarded with normal, non-electric waste. On the other hand, they agree the most that the government should support and implement knowledge to the public and raised awareness on how to manage electronic waste from mobile phone. In addition, regarding the part of the knowledge of electronic waste, the respondents knew the place to eliminate electronic waste. The Logit model analysis using in this study indicated that age is an important factor that cause significant differences towards the awareness of electronic waste, meaning when they are getting older, there are more opportunity for them to be more well-aware towards the electronic waste.
