Abstract: The objectives of this research are 1) to study Spending Behavior of Payap University Dormitory Students in Tambon Nong Pa Krang Municipality, Amphoe Mueang Chiang Mai, Changwat Chiang Mai 2) to compare expenditure behavior between male and female and 3) to study important factors effect to working as a part-time for supplementary income. Questionnaires were used as a research instrument. Data obtained from 225 students by simple random sampling technique. The results revealed that; 1. The majority of the respondents are female, age between 20-24 years old. Most of them are undergraduate students and their domicile is northern, Thailand. They earned money from their parents about 5,001-10,000 baht/month. Most of their parents earned a bachelor's degree, work for their own businesses, and get income more than 20,001 baht/month. They have only 3-4 closed friends, have no siblings and no debt. The vehicle they use is car. 2. Most of students’ expenditure is lower than 1,000 baht/month (for stationery, uniform, commuting expenses, personal expenses, etc.). Cost of dormitory rent and food is about 2,001-3,000 baht/month. Other expenses not related to studying activities are about 1,001-2,000 baht/month. 3. The level of overall perception was at slightly agreeing level. However, considering in each aspect, the results show that most of student’s expenditure is cost for basic needs, studying costs, relaxing costs , and social costs respectively. 4. Overall expenditures of male and female student are not significantly different. 5. Factors affect to students’ behavior for making supplementary income are 1) the money they earned from their parents is not enough 2) economic recession 3) extravagant spending 4) using time for experience and value 5) registration fee 6) internet fee 7) personal debt 8) family wealth 9) holiday and vacation 10) personal talent. The results also show that whenever they need help, they will ask for money from their parents or their friends. Otherwise, they will look for part-time jobs.
