Abstract

The objective of this independent study was to study preferred staff qualifications from the perspective of employers in Samut Sakhon Province. The data was collected using questionnaire distributed to 370 business owners, managers or section heads, and the 3rd type of business in Sanut Sakhon. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics namely frequency, percentage and mean. The results of the study showed that most questionnaire respondents were male, 36-45 years old, and married. Most held Bachelor’s degree. Their work experience was 6-10 years. Most registered for metal and machinery industry. The most preferred staff qualification by most industries was staff expression towards organization and society. Metal and machinery industries wanted employees that would not expose the organization’s secrets the most. Plastic, chemicals and petrochemicals industries; weaving, leather and clothes industries; and food, beverage and tobacco industries wanted employees that had good attitudes towards organization and work the most. Fundamental metal industries wanted employees that were punctual and got the job done on time the most. Other industries, such as logistics, printing, and electricity wanted employees that were knowledgeable, which meant knowledgeable about quality control the most.
