Abstract

The objective of information design research of “Wiang Kum Kam” is to present information about the historical of Wiang Kum Kam for tourists in Chiang Mai. Wiang Kum Kam is the old city and it was the beginning of Ching Mai in the present. It has been found in 1984. Wiang Kum Kam has been the glory City in the past. But In many years later, the city confronts with an inundation that can cause the whole city swamped for a hundred years. Nowadays, the Wiang Kum Kam has been renovated by Chiang Mai people for travelling. Meanwhile, the complicated of Location is the main troubles for people who come to visit the city. For instance, carriage way and the crowded of community are directly affected to tourists. They can’t conveniently to approach the Wiang Kum Kam. These can cause most of tourist get lost and wrong information. To help and guide them, the information design researcher try to collect the information from tourist by questionnaire, interview for the solution. After that the information design has a little role for tourist with providing 1.Logo 2.Map 3.Brochure 4.Wayfinding 5.Website 6.E-book for the apparently information of Wiang Kum Kam in Chiangmai. The result of the study has shown that the tourists and Local people satisfied in high level. At the meantime, we still have some barriers because of the varieties nationality of tourists its can cause about the communication between researcher and tourist during doing the research. Next, the researcher can’t approach to tourist. Due to the different type of sightseeing tour at Wiang Kum Kam such as by brougham, tram operated by Wiang Kum Kam Staff and some of tourists are independent travel.
