Abstract

The objectives of this study were (1) to examine the essential and current competencies of assistant managers of 7-Eleven convenience stores in Chiang Mai, Lamphun and Mae Hong Son provinces which managed by Choice Mini Store Co., Ltd., and (2) to analyze the differences between essential and current competencies of assistant managers of 7-Eleven convenience stores. This study was descriptive research. The population was 692 assistant managers of 7-Eleven convenience stores in Chiang Mai, Lamphun and Mae Hong Son provinces which managed by Choice Mini Store Co., Ltd.,. Four hundred and twenty-five questionnaires were returned (61.42% response rate). The instruments used in this research consisted of (1) job analysis of assistant managers and (2) assistance managers’ competencies questionnaire. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (t-test). The research findings found that: 1. The essential competencies for assistant managers of 7-Eleven convenience stores in Chiang Mai, Lamphun and Mae Hong Son provinces which managed by Choice Mini Store Co., Ltd., include 32 competencies which were clustered into 4 competency groups: 4 items of knowledge, 12 items of abilities, 12 items of skills and 4 items of other characteristics. Results showed that all competency groups were received high ratings. 2. Results demonstrated that assistant managers rated all of their current competencies at a high level. 3. There were no statistical significant difference between the essential and current competencies of assistant managers of 7-Eleven convenience stores in Chiang Mai, Lamphun and Mae Hong Son provinces which managed by Choice Mini Store Co., Ltd.,.
