Abstract: | This research aims to investigate the impact of developing an e-learning system that uses gamification based on user traits (Hexad) to improve digital literacy. The research is research and development (R&D). The sample size was 200 high school students, separated into two groups: experimental and control. The experimental group utilized a gamified e-learning system based on user types (Hexad), whereas the control group used a gamified one. The evaluation included questionnaires to measure digital literacy and user satisfaction both before and after using the system. The experimental group demonstrated considerable improvement in digital literacy and user satisfaction compared to the control group (p < 0.05). This suggests that the gamified e-learning system based on user types (Hexad) efficiently encourages learning and increases student motivation. Future e-learning development should investigate introducing gamification elements that target a larger range of user traits to increase ongoing engagement. Further research should look at its usefulness with different user groups, such as university students or non-educational users. |
